Wolseley 15/55
From the Nuffield styling studios comes this picture of what was in their thoughts for their post-war Wolseley range. They describe it in this photo as a Wolseley 15/55, but we know it better as the Wolseley 6/80, one of four 'Medium' saloons introduced by Nuffield in 1948 (the other three being the Morris Oxford MO - Nuffields main hope - plus the Morris Six MS and the Wolseley 4/50). The trim at the sides of the bonnet were dropped, and in a close-up of the 'flying W' on top of the grille (right) we can see that the stylists have had a go at that too, in a fit of post-war euphoria.
Since the decision to build Wolseley versions of the Oxford MO only came late on in the model development, this photo was probably taken in late 1946 or early 1947.
