Audi’s new A5 Coupe is yet to go on sale in many markets but that hasn’t stopped several renderings previewing the convertible version from surfacing. This new rendering gives us another look at the car’s styling ahead of its launch in roughly twelve months time. The A5 Cabriolet is scheduled to enter production alongside its hardtop cousin at a plant in Neckarsulm, Germany, where it’s expected to replace the current A4 convertible in Audi’s lineup. Unlike its 3-series rival from BMW, Audi will likely employ a lightweight canvas roof for its new convertible that will save both on costs as well as storage. Expect the car to be powered by the same engines as found in the coupe, which means the latest FSI and TDI engines, with output ranging from 168 to 262hp (125 to 195kW). These will be followed by V8 performance derivatives including convertible versions of the S5 and upcoming RS5. The cars will be offered with either a six-speed manual or CVT but a new DSG option should be available for some of the less powerful models by the time the Cabrio arrives. Audi has several new droptop models in the pipeline. Following the release of the new A5 Cabrio, Audi is expected to launch a new R8 Spider with a detachable roof as well as an all-new four-door A7 convertible in late 2009.

Audi is determined to eclipse its main rivals in the sales race and will be releasing an onslaught of all-new models in an effort to become top dog. The carmaker has already revealed its new A5 and S5 coupes, and just around the corner is the new Q5 soft-roader and the next A4, but the big-ticket item is the new A7 model that will go head-to-head with the stylish CLS from Mercedes Benz. The Audi A7 will initially be offered as a four-door coupe that’s scheduled to go on sale in early 2009, but a cabriolet variant is expected to join the lineup towards the end of that same year. These latest renderings compiled from sources close to Audi reveal that the new cabriolet will likely feature a conventional soft-top roof in order to preserve the car’s sleek profile and save trunk space. Some unique styling features that could be implemented include hidden rear door handles, LED lighting and a pillar-less glasshouse. Apart from Audi, other manufacturers including BMW, Jaguar and Volkswagen will be releasing their own sedans with coupe-like styling. The A7 will be positioned above the A6 sedan and will be based on the new extended platform that will be used for the A8 limo. The large car wheelbase will ensure that rear passengers have adequate space, and should provide levels of comfort and dynamics similar to the more premium A8. The flexible architecture is the same design used for the new A5 coupe, and it will eventually spawn several key models for Audi including the next generation A4, A6, A8 and Q5 line of cars. This means that the A7 will also benefit from the relocated engine and transmission positioned close to the firewall to improve weight distribution and balance. The expected engine offerings will include several gasoline and TDI powerplants, kicking off with a 3.2L gasoline V6 and moving up to the Lamborghini-derived V10 unit reserved for a potent S7 model. The range topping sports version should also pick up the new magnetic-ride suspension and quattro AWD as standard.

While most are heading down the budget road Audi will be launching an upmarket minicar to tackle the Mini Cooper and a possible BMW version. Audi’s new model will be a production version of the A1 Metroproject revealed at last week’s Tokyo Motor Show. It will arrive on the market in late 2009 and will be followed soon after by several variants including a five-door hatchback and cabrio. These new renderings give us an accurate look at what to expect, revealing designers will be sticking to the lines of the concept car. Some of the elements that are unlikely to make it to production include the exposed aluminum arches, 18in alloys and LED headlights. The car will be built on a new platform that will also spawn the next-gen VW Polo. Regular versions will be FWD but a low-volume performance model is also on the cards, which could get a quattro AWD set-up. The new platform also means the A1 will be available with VW Group’s new low-cost DSG with seven gears in total. Engine options will range from a series of low capacity TSI and TDI units ranging from 1.4 to 2.0L, and a new mild hybrid model could also be offered. The design will use a small electric motor integrated into the drivetrain, which kicks in during high-load situations. Maybach 62 Landaulet es el nombre de la versión descapotable de la gran berlina de lujo de Mercedes, aunque teniendo en cuenta el tamaño más que descapotable podemos decir que tiene terraza con un par de butacas para tomar el sol. Se ha filtrado las fotos que puedes ver , pero tendremos que esperar un poco más para conocer sus detalles. De momento sabemos que llevará el mismo motor que el 62, que su techo será retráctil sólo para las plazas traseras y que tiene un nuevo panel que separa plazas delanteras y traseras. ¿Y cuál es el mejor lugar para presentar un barco descapotable con asientos de avión y motor 6.0 V12 biturbo de 612 caballos? Pues el Salón de Dubai, que se celebrará dentro de unas semanas y al que podríamos ponerle el apodo de el salón de los excesos. y con techo de lona :ranting2: aqui con su predecesor.....

Hoy es viernes... me lo traen en 2 horitas .........a las 18:30, tic tac tic tac.... pero......................... has visto el mail q te he enviado???? que te parece???? siempre he querido un cabrio os cuento ...... Me cambian la "frago" por un cabrio 2,5 TDI como el de ragtop , negro con todos los extras (menos xenon), naviplus, tv, deflector, llantas, cuero, as deportivos, calefactabbles, volante deportivo calefactable, es de finales del 2003 con 108.000 kms con libro de revisiones , resulta q el hombre se separa y lo tiene que vender , pero es posible q aceptase mi coche a cambio , .......... que os parece???? me animo???? cabrio y TDI, perfecto , no???? me da mucho "cague" lo de la capota de lona, tengo una amiga con un TT roadster con dos meses y algun mal nacido le ha rajado un lateral entero :ranting2: y eso me asusta y mucho, quizas sea lo unico vaya lio ........ Aunque era de esperar, parece cada vez más claro que Ron Dennis no piensa facilitarle las cosas a Fernando Alonso para que el piloto español pueda encontrar su mejor solución de futuro. Aunque es evidente que el asturiano no quiere seguir en McLaren y que en la escudería de Woking tampoco desean su continuidad, encontrar una salida buena para ambas partes parece realmente complicado. Lo más sencillo para Ron Dennis y compañía sería liberar a Alonso de su contrato para 2008 y darle libertad absoluta para buscarse un equipo, pero el bueno de Ron teme, con razón, que el español vaya a parar a uno de sus directos rivales y el próximo año le pase la mano por la cara tanto a él como a su ‘chico de oro’, Lewis Hamilton. Así que en McLaren tienen claro que no dejarán que el dos veces Campeón del Mundo firme por cualquier de los equipos de gran presupuesto de la parrilla. Por supuesto, ni por Ferrari, ni BMW Sauber, ni Toyota, ni Honda, ni tampoco Renault, todos ellos constructores. Eso limita y mucho las opciones de Alonso, que prácticamente quedarían reducidas a Red Bull y Williams. Pero no creo que el piloto asturiano esté dispuesto a marcharse, aunque sólo sea un año, a un equipo en el que no tenga opciones, ni tan solo remotas, de luchar por la victoria. Así que el tema cada vez se complica más y aunque aún hay tiempo por delante, ambas partes están condenadas a entenderse o, como ya se apunta desde algunos círculos, a seguir un año más de la manita. ¿Otra temporada con Dennis, Hamilton y Alonso juntos? Bueno, la diversión está asegurada.
